An early morning fire seriously damaged a ranch-sty le house at 1 16 Sea View
Drive Friday .
No one was inside the one-story house at the time of the fire, which was first reported at about 3
a.m., according to Fire Chief Ed Bradley . While many homes in the area are seasonal, this is a
y ear-round residence, Bradley said. The owner (listed by the town assessor’s office as Paul
Vinciulla) was out of town this week, according to Bradley . Local family members were keeping
an ey e on the property and had been there the previous day .
Strong winds fanned the blaze, Bradley said. “The fire took the roof right off the structure and it
looks to be a total loss.”
Over the past several months, more than a dozen fires have started in empty buildings in
Southeastern Massachusetts. Vinciulla told the Boston Herald he suspects arson because his
sister found the door ajar and locks on an outside shed cut.
Following an investigation, State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan and Bradley released a statement
Friday afternoon say ing it was most likely an electrical fire, that began near the living room
couch, adding there was no evidence the fire was intentionally set.
